Celebrate the End of Winter in the North Country

Established in 2017, The Maple Run is the premier half marathon in St. Lawrence County. We run to celebrate the end of winter, contribute to the economic growth of our community, and benefit local youth runners from high school to collegiate levels.

While we all hope winter 2025 will have taken its last gasps by Saturday, April 12, snow and rain have happened on race day. The Maple Run will go on rain or shine. If hazardous weather conditions are predicted, a rain date will be announced.

Holding a Cup of Water

Work Hard, Play Hard

You're going to train all winter for a half marathon or 5K in spring- you deserve some kudos and great gear. In-person and hybrid finishers earn a wooden medallion. All participants will receive our signature mini-bottle of local maple syrup, and a Maple Run long sleeve shirt.

For 2025, placement prizes will be offered for men, women, and gender non-binary categories for 1st thru 3rd places in the half marathon only. The Maple Run is also pleased to offer a doorprize package to one lucky in-person or hybrid participant in a post-race drawing.

Age group placements, 1st to 3rd, for the half marathon and 5K will be recognized and receive a custom Maple Run keychain. Age groups are presented in 10 year divisions.

To make training more fun in the winter months the Bucc Wild Run Club offers a free group run on Tuesdays, at The Stadium on Main Street, 6 pm, in Canton, NY.

If you are looking for something to accompany your meal, the beverage case is filled with refreshers, grab and go items from lasagna to, of course, creamy Vermont cheddar. The lunch menu does not disappoint! The Maple Bird is a favorite amongst the hearty, tasty sandwich options. FAQs

  • Can I run with a stroller or my dog?

We cannot allow strollers or dogs on either of the courses. This is for your safety and the safety of other participants. However, registered service animals, special-needs strollers, and wheelchairs are permitted.

Dogs are welcome at Bend in the River Park, so feel free to have your bestest furiend send you off and greet you when you return.

  • Can I get a refund for my registration?

Refunds are not available for 2025.

  • Does The Maple Run need volunteers?

Volunteers are great and the heart of making The Maple Run go!

Please fill out the volunteer form in this link if you wish to pitch in!

Or email Kara at themapleruncanton@gmail.com for more information.

  • What is the time limit for the half marathon?

The course will be open for 4 hours. Our time is ample enought to accomodate walkers and first time half marathoners-- so you are welcome at The Maple Run!

This is also a fair limit given the small group of EMS volunteers, and law enforcement vehicles who are giving their time to make this event a success. Walkers who can meet the 4 hour maximum are welcome to participate!

  • Is the in-person run chip timed?

The 2025 Maple Run is set to be chip timed.
